T. S. Eliot wrote a poem known as The Waste Land, which is recognised as one of the most significant poems of the 20th century and a key piece of modernist poetry. The 434-line poem was initially published in 1922 and first appeared in two different countries: the United Kingdom (October issue of Eliot's The Criterion) and the United States (November issue of The Dial). In December 1922, the book version of it was released. The Sanskrit mantra "Shantih shantih shantih" and the proverbs "April is the cruellest month," "I will show you fear in a handful of dust," "These fragments I have shored against my ruins," and others are among its well-known sayings.
