The utopian book Herland was published in 1915 and was written by American feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman. In the novel, a society separated from the outside world is made up solely of women who reproduce asexually (parthenogenesis). The outcome is a perfect social structure devoid of hostilities, competition, and dominance.
