The Yellow Wallpaper

American author Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" (original title: "The Yellow Wall-paper. A Story") was first published in January 1892 in The New England Magazine. Due to its depiction of attitudes towards women's mental and physical health in the 19th century, it is regarded as a significant early work of American feminist writing. It is also praised for being a superb piece of horror fiction.
