Uncle Tom's Cabin
Originally published in serial form in the United States in 1851 and 1852, Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin was released in book form the following year. It was a huge success as an abolitionist novel, especially among white readers in the North, because of the powerful dramatization it provided of the plight of slaves.
