In it, the lovely gipsy Esmeralda catches the eye of the disfigured bell ringer at Notre Dame Cathedral, Quasimodo. Quasimodo's good intentions are misconstrued when he tries to prevent Esmeralda from being executed as a witch by Claude Frollo, the tortured archdeacon who lusts after her.
