Louisa May Alcott s Little Women, originally titled Little Women; or, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, is a children s novel that was released in two volumes in 1868 and 1869. The first edition was illustrated by her sister May. For children s literature, it marked the beginning of a new subgenre.
